“Yes?” “Are you menstruating?” She took a second to answer. “No. No I’m not.” Bond smiled. “I had to ask, Gloria.” Gloria went on. “No. No I’ve never hated men. I love men.” Bond was puzzled. Never hated men? What was she talking about? Then he realised Gloria’s mistake. He smiled. “No, I didn’t ask you if you were men hating. I asked you if you were menstruating.” “Yes,” said Gloria, “that’s what I thought you said. I was just giving you the benefit of the doubt in case I hadn't heard you right." And with that she slapped him round the head so hard that he fell off the settee. It made his ears ring for the next ten minutes. |
