for your letter of 6th May.
You are right, the cost of
hiring the Fokker is indeed prohibitive. Flying by scheduled as opposed to
chartered aeroplane doesn't really make much difference to the wine-lovers and
me. However the New Mills Royal Air Force Veterans and Sons of Veterans are
very disappointed, as they were really looking forward to the experience
--names like Fokker and Messerschmitt being far more evocative to their ears
than Boeing and Airbus.
They also feel that had we
chartered the Fokker we would have had more control over your intended flight
path, and that those ex-RAF men wishing to parachute into Germany would have
been able to come down in your country more or less exactly where they wanted
to, whereas if we travel on one of your scheduled flights they may have to
parachute out of your door some distance from where they actually wish to
land.
I have now instructed out travel agent to book the
seats with Lufthansa and I thank you for all your
help.
