Dear Lufthansa Airlines

I will be taking a party of wine-lovers to Germany this summer for an informal tour of the Mosel and Ruhr valleys. As I have always been most impressed with German engineering and efficiency - I did my National Service in Minden, Westphalia so I know what I am talking about, having seen it at first hand - and as I have also received very good reports on the Lufthansa in-flight catering I have decided to fly with your airline. If your bratwurst and pumpernickel are up to the standard of Air 2000's lasagne then we are in for a rare treat.

Rather than fly on one of your scheduled flights I would like to charter one of your aeroplanes, if that is at all possible. Not too large a one of course, as that wouldn't make economic sense. I don't exactly know what you have in your hangars at the moment, but an aeroplane about the size of the German one in the film 'The Heroes Of Telemark', which I have been reliably informed was a Heinkel Bomber, would be admirable - although that aeroplane in particular had machine-gun turrets front and back if my memory serves me correctly, and we wouldn't want it to have those of course.

Incidentally, if you haven't seen 'The Heroes Of Telemark' it is is one of the best war films it has been my pleassure to see, and I can thoroughly recommend it. I am sure you would enjoy it too, even though your side doesn't win. We wish to travel around the 25th of May and return, with lots of lovely German wines, three weeks later. I look forward to hearing from you with flying times and prices.

Yours sincerely

T Ravenscroft (Mr)
