Dear Air China

I will be travelling to Beijing in July and would like to take the opportunity of flying with a Chinese airline. However, before I commit myself, I would like to clear up something with regard to the meals you serve up during the flight. Do you serve Chinese food? I mean Chinese food in the sense that 44 Sweet and Sour Chicken and 58 Sliced Beef in Black Bean Sauce is Chinese food? As opposed to food that is bought in China and turned into, for example, Roast Beef and Yorkshire Pudding.
The reason I am asking is that I know you Chinese people could never be accused of being stingy with the monosodium glutamate when it comes to your cookery. Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against MSG, in fact if I owned an MSG factory I would be a very happy man; especially if it happened to be in China, where the natives apparently can't get enough of it. However, the fact is that I am allergic to the stuff. With this in mind, if I were to travel with your airline, would it be possible for me to have an MSG-free meal, or is it all made together in a big pot? If it isn't possible, would it perhaps be in order for me to bring my own food, or would that cause your cabin crew to lose face?

Looking forward to hearing from you

Yours sincerely

T Ravenscroft (Mr)
