Dear Mr Kelly

Reference your letter dated 19th May.

I am very perturbed with this reply, to say the least. I am sure that I don't have to remind you that it was the island of Malta which controlled the vital sea lanes between Italy and Africa during World War Two, thanks largely to the fighter aircraft 'Faith, Hope and Charity', and which resulted in your country being awarded the George Cross. It would appear that the crew of these aeroplanes were made of sterner stuff than the crews employed by Air Malta, since they coped with everything that the German war machine could throw at them, whereas your Air Malta crews apparently can't cope with one demented (possibly) passenger.

I would respectfully point out to you that had it not been for the Royal Air Force there would probably not now be a Malta to fly to, and that in future you would do well to bear this in mind when dealing with British passengers, from whom no request should be too difficult for you.

Yours sincerely

T Ravenscroft (Mr)
