I will be
travelling with your airline to Brazil in September, and am wondering if I
could impose on your good nature a little?
The Australian
national airline Qantas recently supplied me with a copy of 'Australia - A
Traveller's Guide'. I found this publication, despite a distinct lack of
information on dingoes eating babies, to be quite invaluable. As Brazil's
national airline, are Varig in a position to furnish me with a similar
publication covering Brazil?
I would be particularly
interested in any guide which carries information on the Amazon Rain Forests.
Anything you have on this area would be most welcome, especially data on the
indigenous Indian population, as I gather that the Brazilian authorities turn a
blind eye to the shooting of these rain forest dwellers. Not of course that I
intend shooting an Indian; but if while I am out hunting wild game in the
Amazon jungle I accidentally bag an Indian by mistake it is comforting to know
that the authorities wouldn't be too tiresome about it. And then again I won't
make any secret of the fact that a stuffed Indian's head over my sitting room
mantelpiece would make a rather interesting talking
point.
