Dear Mr.
Ravenscroft,
I refer to your letter dated 12 May 1994 and
our previous correspondence. Please note that I have highlighted your comments
to our Chief Pilot regarding Prince Charles and Princess Diana. He has assured
me that unless a person has a Pilot's Licence they would not be allowed to take
control of a scheduled service flight. I cannot comment on royalty
P.R.
My comments regarding Aeroflot referred to their
recent crash in Siberia. It has been reported that the Captain left the
flightdeck while his teenage son was at the controls! The aeroplane crashed and
I believe that all the passengers and crew were killed. This was obviously
against Aeroflot's official regulations, but I understand that flight
procedures in Russia leave a lot to be desired. I am sure Aeroflot would not
even allow you or anyone else to officially fly their aeroplanes without a
proper licence.
I trust that this clarifies my previous
response and I regret that I remain unable to authorise your
request.
Yours sincerely
