Dear Mr
Ravenscroft
Thank you for your letter of 9th
May.
You are quite correct that there is no Customs
Regulation forbidding the carriage of alcohol onboard. The requirement is that
the bottle must not be opened prior to
departure.
Consequently it is correct that you can consume
your own wine onboard. In practice this is not something we would encourage or
advertise. You will appreciate that while the crew serves the alcohol on board,
they are more able to control the amount consumed .
I hope
this clarifies the situation and apologise for our previous
error.
Yours sincerely
