Dear Qantas Airways

My wife and I and six children will be visiting Australia for the first time in September. At the moment I can't make up my mind whether we should fly British Airways, as we usually do, or fly with an Australian airline, which might perhaps allow us to get 'a taste of Australia' before we actually arrive in your country. With this in mind, what does your airline offer that can be said to be typically antipodean? I'm not expecting the captain to have three legs and look like Rolf Harris, or the stewardesses to look like Kylie Minogue or anything like that, but maybe the food you serve during the flight is typically Australian? (Although I will skip the Australian wine if it's all the same to you, for despite all the good press it has had recently it still tastes like methylated blackcurrant jam to me) Or maybe the in-flight movies are Australian? I missed the one about the dingo that ate the baby when it was on at our local cinema, so a chance to see it would be most welcome.

Incidentally, bearing the above in mind, at what age would you say that a baby is safe from being swallowed by a dingo? You see my youngest will only be fifteen months old come September, and I would rather leave him safe in Sydney with my wife when the children and I visit the Ayers Rock area than risk him becoming a dingo's dinner.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Yours faithfully

T Ravenscroft (Mr)
