Dear V Severs
Thankyou for your letter of 2nd June.
I am still waiting to hear from the Oxford University Press
regarding the pronunciation of Nestle, but I am sure they
will come down on my side, so I'm hanging on to the £50
for the time being.
With reference to my quest for a supply of Affreyeymin,
on a visit to a local Chinese restaurant recently I
asked the waiter if he'd ever heard of them. He spoke
slightly better English than the London waiter, and
told me it was quite possible that his countryman had
meant 'After Eight Mints', and that due to his poor
diction it had come out sounding like 'Affreyeymin'.
I must say this seemed a bit fanciful to me to say the least,
but do you think that it could be possible?
Yours faithfully
